Not really.

Problem with the Elite Cup was the huge turnout. Matches were randomized, not based on skill levels, and even the most experienced trainers have their off days and close calls. That, and it's impossible to build a flawless team, especially with only three Pokémon.

[Then again, Riku won Advanced and made finals in standard, so he's not anywhere near as miffed.]

I suppose that's true as well.
Especially 8uilding the perfet team out of only three 8easts.
There were many others I would have liked to use.
